Development of a silent keyboard

Specific requirements: As the end product was a sonometer, the activation of the keyboard was not allowed to disturb the device, and at the same time the keyboard needed to provide tactility (a click), so that users would not be in any doubt that the device had been activated. The sonometer is used in physically demanding circumstances, and consequently, another important issue was a very tight enclosure, and the silicone mat helped fulfil this requirement.

The solution was a state-of-the-art silicone design with a special keyboard surface. The keys were cast to create a very clear 3D effect.
