The polymer solar cells produced at Mekoprint A/S are conceived and developed by Prof. Frederik C. Krebs and the DTU Energy Conversion (previously: Risø DTU National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy). To reach the current state of technology, Mekoprint has received fundings through two projects: Industrialization of polymer solar cells and Largecells. Industrialization of polymer solar cells
The technology transfer from DTU Energy Conversion (previously: RISØ DTU) to Mekoprint A/S has been carried out in the project Industrialization of polymer solar cells funded by the EUDP Program from the Ministry of Energy, Denmark, where also Faktor 3 and Gaia Solar have taken part.
The technology transfer is a fruitful cooperation between Mekoprint and DTU Energy Conversion, where Mekoprint has contributed by ITO processing and DTU Energy Conversion has provided the specialized inks and coating technology needed for Mekoprint to produce polymer solar cells. LargecellsAnother important contributor to the success is the funding from the European Commission Research Directorate under the Seventh Framework Programme through the project Largecells Large-area Organic and Hybrid Solar Cells. The focus here is bulk energy production through high efficiency and larger cells.
